Ok, you've been waiting for this for a while, I know. But here it is in response to jane_freak's list which you can find here.
This took a while to compile for me, because I had to consider some points. The initial question for me was the infamous marooned-on-an-island-questrion: Imagine if you have to live the next couple of years on an island (for whatever reasons): which 10 (or so) albums(/books/whatever) would you take with you.
In the case of music, this is a tricky one for me. Only 10 albums (multi-CD compilations are NOT allowed) for the next years! There has to be something for every mood, and it has to be music, which will not become boring after listening to it for the 143th time in 3 days. Having this in mind, I compiled this:
Ok, that's it! This took a while to compile, and it was not an easy thing to do. Took me weeks. You are probably missing some other great recordings and so do I, but it was my goal to limit this to ten albums.
This list is in no particular order. No ranking from 1 to 10 or so.
Now, it is up to you to leave some comments on this and to do your own list of 10. I'm very curious about it.

- Mr. Bungle - Same
Brillant project of Mike Patton. If you want to know what music would result if Metallica, Frank Zappa an Monthy Python are performing together, check this one. This will never ever gonna be boring. - Max Reger - Complete Organ Works Vol. 3; Rosalinde Haas, Organ
Max Reger was a German composer and lived 1873-1916. This CD contains one of his most infamous compositions: Intoduction, Passacaglia and Fugue e-minor, Op.127. This was written 1913 as dedication to the Sauer-Organ in Breslau, which had 187 registers and was the biggest organ in Europe at that time. Karl Straube needed 40 minutes to play it on its first night, most organ players need 27 to 30 minutes, Rosalinde Haas does it in 23 (!) minutes on this CD. This is a frenzy!
The passacaglia has 27 Variations on a 8-bar theme. The fugue has 2 themes (double fugue), which are merged to a fulminant climax towards the end. - Eric Burdon declares War.
Long story behind this. Not to be told to everyone. - ELP - Brain Salad Surgery
- Colosseum - Valentyne Suite
- Frumpy - Live
These three, because i just love the music on them. Some very, very good Hammond solos here. - Marillion - Script for a jesters Tear
- Pink Floyd - The Wall
These two, because without these albums, I would probably not have survived the dark phase(s) in my life.......................--------hm, okay......this brings us to: - Franz Liszt - Totentanz
I have an album with some piano concertos by Liszt, but 'Totentanz' kills it all. Really great. It is a paraphrase on 'Dies irae'. You might know the melody: It is the title melody of the movie 'Shining' by Kubrick, and Argent used it as well. Check the the first track on Argent's 'Encore'-Album: 'The Coming of Kohoutek'. This is also a variation of the 'Dies irae' chant. - Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter
Great soulful bassplaying by Pastorius. Saxes by Shorter.
