What psychedelic music do you like?

When I went on holiday I had a CD of 50+ MP3s to play in the car which were mostly English and American psychedelic from albums where I don't like all the songs -

Chocolate Watch Band
Electric Prunes
Strawberry Alarm Clock
Early Deep Purple
13th Floor Elevators
Golden Dawn
Standells
White Noise

and some early Can, such as "Connection" and "Mother Sky".

Some other good ones I have are -

Iron Butterfly
Seeds "Future" album
Rolling Stones "Their Satanic Majesties Request" album
Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows", just this one track from "Revolver"
Pretty Things "S.F. Sorrow" album
Arthur Brown "Crazy World Of" album
Captain Beefheart "Safe As Milk" album

Hi Steve!

Psychedelic Music of the 60ies and seventies: I like Songs and Albums from Ultimate Spinach (specially Mind Flower), Serpent Power, Westcoast Pop Art Experimental Band, Brainticket, Aguartubia, (a Band from Chile), United States of America, some Tracks from Kak, H.P.Lovecraft, Grateful Dead, Quicksilver, Can, Agitation Free, Amon Düül II, Arzachel. My favourite Album of that Time is Tago Mago from Can, it was my first Album from a Krautrock Band too.

My favourite Psychedelic Bands of the 21st Century are Zone Six (D), Liquid Sound Company (US), Census of Hallucinations (GB), Primordial Undermind (US), Abunai (US), Ha-Za-ma (Japan), Spiritualized (GB) and Burnt Noodle (US). Also I like Songs from Südstern 44, Electric Orange, Melting Euphoria, Colour Haze, Sula Bassana, Liquid Visions, Sun Dial, Bevis Frond, Vocokesh, Bardo Pont, Subarachnoid Space, Lamp of the Universe and Farflung:.

From all these bands I have Lps, Cds or Sampler Tracks. And so I have put them on Mp3s too hear the Song in my Car, mostly to loud for the Police.Icon_biggrin

Yes, The Police were far too quiet, Roxanne and all that stuff Nar

Tago Mago starts really well, the drumming is brilliant, but I have to turn it off when it gets to Aumgn. Well, now you've made me play it just to see how much I can endure...

Yeah! Made it all the way through and just got back in time to catch the MC5 Thumbup

Actually it sounded a lot better this time, and there were several periods of a few minutes each that were great. That's how Can have been to me for the last 30 years, I graudally come to enjoy more and more of their work Icon_idea

Hmm, the reviewers on Amazon say the 2004 Remastered version sounds a lot better. It's an SACD not a regular CD but it seems you can rip it OK with a PC. Maybe I'll buy it if I get a job.
Uf, i love psyhodelic music, especially older one from 60s and 70s.
But I must admit that i didn't hear some of bands you are mentioning in uper posts. I did german ones of course hahahaha

I have to spread my horisonts with some british or other psychodely. Any advice what should be my first adventure???????
These new bands (from 21st), they are mostly unknown to me :(

Here's an advice from me, Ivan:

Rhino released a boxed set of great psychedelic music in 1998:

http://www.rhino.com/store/ProductDetail...mber=75466

it contains 4 CDs of tracks dated 1965-1968, all tracks are from US-Bands. The Box contains NO hits (this is a guarantee), but when you read the great booklet, you will meet lots of musicians who became (more or less) famous in the 70ies, e.g. "The Vagrants" with Leslie Weinstein (later Leslie West) on guitar, "Amboy Dukes" with T. Nugent on guitar (some Amboy Dukes titles can be heard on this radio, check the archive) and "The Golliwogs" with the Fogerty-Brothers who later formed CCR and much more. You will most probably also meet some bands that you might know already, e.g. "Electric Prunes", "The Blues Project", 13th Floor Elevators, Turtles.........

The set is rather pricy, but it is (in my opinion) worth every cent. I was lucky, because I got my copy of the set from ebay and payed 18 EUR for it.

And if this is not enough music for you, you can go on and buy Vol.2 of the set.

Great psychedelic pieces from 1964-1969, but this time from bands from all literally over the world, with some early works from Ian Gillan (Episode Six), Steve Howe (Tomorrow) or "The Status Quo", just to name a few of the more familiar names.

Really great boxed sets from Rhino Records, check them out, if you can.
